First impressions of the Desire Luxury P-Spot Vibrator

The good people of Lovehoney asked us if we would like to review their Luxury Prostate Vibrator from the Desire range.

I liked the packaging of the toy, it is simple but elegant. The kind of box that I’d enjoy giving to somebody as a gift. Inside the box is a leather bag to keep the prostate massager and its accessories. I think the manufacturers of the leather bag must have used a glue derived from fish, because unfortunately it smells. For me the smell was too bad so I threw away the leather bag and instead used a simple satin pouch to keep the toy inside of.

The toy itself is made of a firm black silicone, yet it has enough flexibility to bend and mould to the shape of my body. It’s an impressive looking toy because it’s a little bigger than other prostate vibrators I have tried. The girth of the toy is wider with a circumference of 4 inches (10cm) / diametre 1.27 inches (3.27cm). The insertable length is 4 inches, like most other P-Spot toys. Even the perineum arm of the vibrator is quite big and wide, which I was curious about.

Three buttons are moulded into the silicone of the toy’s handle. The top button increases the intensity, the bottom button decreases it. The middle button switches between the 8 vibration modes. The vibrations feel powerful and rumbly. Like the We-Vibe Vector I reviewed last week, there are two vibration motors in the Desire P-Spot Vibrator; one vibrator on the prostate arm of the toy and another on the perineum arm. Cycling through the vibration modes, I find similar patterns to the Vector by We-Vibe too. These toys don’t have identical vibration modes but they both play vibrations between the two different vibration motors. The pattern modes switch rapidly between vibrating the prostate and perineum arms separately. This creates a great sensation and as I said with the We-Vibe Vector, it means the Desire P-Spot Vibrator feels more interesting than the average prostate vibe.

Its battery life is average. It comes with a rechargeable cable and takes 100 minutes to charge, with 40 minutes of play time (depending on the settings you use).

Experience using the Desire Prostate Vibrator

This toy is a little wider than other prostate toys I have tried, so beginners to prostate sex toys should be careful. It would be wiser for beginners to start with smaller toys first, however the Desire P-Spot Vibrator isn’t huge. If beginners take enough time with this toy and use plenty of water-based lube, they should be ok.

I certainly notice the bigger size of this toy when inserting and removing this toy. The bulbous head is quite wide so I have to go slowly. This size makes me feel fuller when it’s inside and importantly, it puts more pressure on my prostate gland. The curved shape of the toy also helps press the p-spot. For me this feeling is nice but again I’m thinking beginners may like to start with a smaller and less intense toy.

The perineum arm of the toy rests at the lower end of the scrotum. It is flexible enough to bend to my body shape but firm enough to put a good amount of pressure there. It feels good and one of the unique things about this toy for me is that more importance is placed on the perineum area. Other toys like the Nexus Revo Slim have perineum stimulation, yet it is very light when compared with this Desire Vibrator.

The controls of the toy aren’t the most ergonomic in the world but for me they are easy enough to find. The handle of the toy is quite large so it’s easy to reach and feel for the buttons. I find the buttons a little stiff when the toy has been inserted and would prefer it if I didn’t have to press them so hard. This is a bigger toy so pressing hard on its buttons means it is moving that way inside me too. That being said, I haven’t yet experienced any pain from this, just slight discomfort when first turning on the toy.

The Orgasm (solo play – Adam)

For those who want the short version, I love the sensations this toy gives me. The shape of the prostate and perineum arms fit perfectly to my body and press in all the right places. The variable vibration modes are really very good and almost match those of the We-Vibe Vector (a more expensive toy). The quality of orgasm I have with the Desire P-Spot vibrator is at least as good as what I get from the Vector, which again is a big plus.

Edging with this toy inside feels fantastic. If I bring myself almost to the edge of orgasm by masturbating normally, the Desire Vibrator easily takes me over the edge with its immense vibrations. The kind of orgasms it gives is definitely up there amongst the most powerful.

Since I am comparing this a lot to the We-Vibe Vector I think it’s worth mentioning the differences between this toy and that one. For me at least, the vibration modes of the Desire P-Spot Vibrator aren’t as refined or varied as those of the Vector. Overall the vibration modes of the Vector are better, especially as I can create additional vibration modes via their smart-phone app. Yet that isn’t necessarily to take away from the Desire P-Spot Vibrator, it still has well above average vibration modes. The Vector is also more comfortable than the Desire toy, partly due to its size but also its flexibility. The silicone of the Vector is softer and more flexible, which means it moulds to the body more effectively. Finally, the Vector is better for partner sex, which we will get to next.

Partner Play with the Desire P-Spot Vibrator

Due to the long handle of the Desire Prostate Vibrator and its shape in general, it is difficult to use while having sex. If you were lying down with your partner on top of you, the handle will press into the bed surface and cause you discomfort. Also, the perineum arm of the toy will press hard onto the base of your scrotum this way, which may cause pain. The shape of the toy means it can also slip out easily, so in general I would recommend not using this toy during sex (it wasn’t designed for that).

Where this toy excels is for oral sex or manual stimulation. Due to the large handle it is very easy for Eve to handle this toy while giving me oral sex. The vibrations of the toy also travel slightly into the handle, which means when she presses a button on the toy she can feel the change. This is an advantage over using a remote control, where she can’t really tell if the button she is pressing has worked.

So there we have it, this toy isn’t as versatile as the We-Vibe Vector when it comes to penetrative sex, however it is still great for oral sex.

Cleaning the Desire P-Spot Vibrator

This toy is quite streamlined so doesn’t take long to clean. It’s very easy to clean with some soap, water and/or sex toy cleaning fluid.

Due to the black silicone however, this toy is a dust magnet. As soon as I put it on a table for a few seconds, it collects some dust. So keep the toy in its leather bag or (like me) inside a satin pouch.
