The Sceptre has a cool name. Does this rotation only prostate toy touch all the right places?

Our friends at Passage du Desir asked us to review the Nexus Sceptre. Being a fan of Nexus I of course had to accept.

This prostate massage toy is a little different to the Nexus Revo Slim I reviewed before. The Sceptre doesn’t vibrate and looks quite different in design. It feels more ergonomic and the controls are simpler (there is just one power on button and another rotation mode button. There are just two rotation speeds and it rotates in two different directions.

The Sceptre is also a little bigger than the Revo Slim. It is almost  1.4 inches in circumference and 4 inches in insertable length. To be honest though The Sceptre isn’t that intimidating. I seldom use anal toys and it didn’t pose any problems for me.

The toy comes with a magnetic charging cable but sadly no storage pouch. It’s very difficult to keep dust off this toy. So while it is a nice looking toy, the dust spoils the aesthetic. We keep a very clean home by the way!!!

One very nice thing about this toy is that it has 10 hours of battery life. That is huge! I’ve used the toy several times during in testing and still haven’t had to charge it.

Experience using the Nexus Sceptre

The Orgasm (solo play – Adam)

The first time I used the Nexus Sceptre I was a little hesitant about the larger size. Using plenty of waterbased anal lube made insertion no problem at all. So my hesitation was unfounded. It was very easy to locate the controls and start up the toy. The slowest speed  immediately started stimulating my prostate. Then after some time I switched it to the higher speed, which is fast enough for me. The faster speed feels more intense and satisfying. I changed the rotation direction a few times, it’s nice to be able to subtly change the feeling.

The Sceptre intensifies my orgasms significantly. More so than the Revo Slim, which is also great. Usually I leave the prostate toy in for some time without any other kind of masterbation. Then when I can’t take it anymore I masturbate to orgasm, which at that point doesn’t take very long. The slow build up I have with the Sceptre and the full feeling of the prostate massage adds another dimension to orgasms.

However the Sceptre hasn’t yet given me an orgasm without me touching my penis. It has gotten very close but it didn’t happen yet. I suspect if it had vibration, it may have succeeded.

Partner Play with the Nexus Sceptre

The biggest downside to the design of the Nexus Sceptre is that it would be difficult to use in most sex positions. For this, the Revo Slim is slightly better (but even that falls out easily). It’s possible that in the missionary position, your partner could hold the Sceptre inside you, however that is impractical because it would prevent movement. It isn’t possible to wear it safely with your partner riding you in the cowgirl position either because of the long handle. It could be used in the spooning position if you hold it in yourself, however for me this is also impractical.

For partner play, the Sceptre really excels in being coupled with oral sex or hand jobs. Or just plain prostate massage. The design of the Sceptre, with it’s long handle makes it very easy for Eve to hold. With the Sceptre, she is a little more ‘hands on’ than with the Revo Slim because of the handle. With the Revo Slim she has the ability to take the remote control of course. The Sceptre is more direct, which is also sexy.

Cleaning the Nexus Sceptre

It’s a black silicone toy. So while extremely easy to clean, it is difficult to keep dust off. Unfortunately the Nexus Sceptre didn’t come with a storage pouch so you should buy your own. This one is particularly difficult to keep dust off of.

Conclusion

Overall this is a great prostate toy. In my opinion it is overpriced (currently at 169€) but hey, Nexus is a top of the line company and its price tags reflect that. However I would expect a non vibrating toy like this one to be cheaper than their Revo models that both rotate and vibrate.

Update 05/07/2020 – The price has lowered to 99€. In my opinion this is a more fair price 🙂

Would I recommend this toy above the Nexus Revo Slim? Yes. Mostly because I disliked the vibration modes on the Revo Slim anyway. I personally like the fact that the Sceptre is designed to do just one thing very well. It’s easier to use and it’s more direct.

However if like me before, you prefer the idea of your partner using a remote control, the Revo Slim is better.
