Review: Firefly Yoni Silicone Masturbator

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot about a budget silicone masturbator called the Firefly Yoni and just had to try it out. It’s made by NS Novelties and glows in the dark. Most of all though, it is inexpensive. To see what I thought of it, read my Firefly Yoni review!

First Impressions of the Firefly Yoni

My first impression of the Firefly Yoni was “shit it’s going to be too small”. In the photos I had seen online, I assumed that the Firefly Yoni would be almost as big as the Ussy (another silicone masturbator). It is much smaller than the Ussy and honestly I was a bit annoyed that I had never seen the dimensions of the Firefly Yoni written down, particularly the maximum insertable circumference of the toy. It’s so small that it’s the thickness of my erect penis.

The Firefly Yoni is made from 100% body-safe silicone. The fact that it’s made out of silicone is a bonus to the toy because that means it isn’t porous and that it will last longer than TPE toys from brands like Tenga and Fleshlight. The silicone of the Firefly Yoni comes in two colours, blue and pink. I personally opted for the blue and the colour looks very nice in person.

I was actually quite shocked to learn that the Firefly Yoni glows in the dark. Despite its name, I didn’t guess. The first time I realised was when my girlfriend and I went to bed and she said “what the hell is that light over there?” – it was the Firefly Yoni. I darted up from bed to go hide it in a drawer. It’s quite impressive how visibly it glows in the dark actually.

Dimensions of the Firefly Yoni

The Firefly Yoni is 5.3 inches long and has an outside diameter of 2.4 inches (about 7.5 inches circumference). The thing is, it’s 7.5 inches in circumference at the widest point. In the middle it’s slimmer… more like 6 – 6.5 inches circumference.

I wish I could tell you the maximum insertable circumference/diameter of the toy but it is not written down anywhere. I’m 6.2 inches in circumference… maybe a bit more, I’m not sure. If you’re my size, you won’t enjoy the Firefly Yoni. If you’re 5 inches in circumference, which is a bit more average – you might enjoy it.

Experience with the Firefly Yoni Masturbator

I’ve used the Firefly Yoni several times now and have disliked it every time. The toy is too damn small and tight.

The first time I used the Firefly Yoni, I put on a lot of lube and entered it like that. It was a very unpleasant experience because the toy is so tight that it fulls on my foreskin and creates way too much resistance. I tried a few other times with a condom and using a condom, the Firefly Yoni is better for me. At least with a condom, the toy doesn’t pull on my skin. I should add, I use plenty of lube so it isn’t that at fault here. The Firefly Yoni is just too small.

There is a ripple texture inside the Firefly Yoni. You can see it by opening either end of the toy and peering in. I imagine that texture feels nice if the diameter of your penis is narrow enough. I don’t feel the texture at all because when I put my penis inside, the toy is so stretched that any texture it has is lost on me. The silicone is at least very soft and flexible, which is the only reason I can get my penis in.

Inserting my penis into the Firefly Yoni feels like stuffing a tight fucking sausage. It is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had using a masturbator. The only toys that felt worse to me than this one are the Tenga Eggs, which will be feeling my wrath in a review very soon. The only reason I am not scoring the Firefly Yoni worse than I am is because for small to average sized penises, there won’t be as much of an issue.

Cleaning the Firefly Yoni

The Firefly Yoni is made entirely out of silicone, so it isn’t porous and won’t allow bacteria to seep into the material as other toys made out of TPE would. The inside of the Yoni is quite small and narrow though and the material is very soft. Both of these things combined means that water evaporates from the Yoni quite slowly. You need to leave it out in the open drying for several hours before it is completely dry.

The Firefly Yoni collects dust like any silicone toy does, however it isn’t as visible because the toy is such a bright colour.

Concluding my review of the Firefly Yoni

I really wanted to enjoy the Firefly Yoni and recommend it to you. There aren’t many silicone masturbators around and especially not ones that are this affordable. Ultimately though, the Firefly Yoni has been a massive disappointment. It has been overhyped and I’m pissed off that I never read anything about the toy being so small. Only people with small to average size penises can use the Firefly Yoni. If you are slightly too thick (as I am), this toy doesn’t feel good at all.

It’s all very well and good for masturbators to be non-porous and made out of silicone… but if those toys don’t feel good then there is no fucking point to them.

If you are small or average in size then you might enjoy the Firefly Yoni. I know that several people I’ve seen talking about it in forums have said they enjoy it. Other reviewers have given the Yoni good scores too. In my opinion though, the Firefly Yoni is fatally flawed. It is a simple masturbator and doesn’t vibrate. Unless you can fit into it, you don’t get anything out of it. I sometimes review toys that are slightly too narrow and give them a better score because I can at least enjoy the vibration. There is no such positive side to the Firefly Yoni. I don’t fit inside it, there is little information on its dimensions before buying it and I’m giving it a bad score because of that.

In my opinion, the Firefly Yoni is a huge missed opportunity. NS Novelties could have made this toy way better by making it wider and they absolutely should have stated the circumference of the toy in all their marketing of it. As it is, I cannot recommend the Firefly Yoni as much as I’d like to. If you need a silicone masturbator then the Ussy, which I reviewed a while ago is still the best one. Despite the Firefly Yoni’s low price tag, it doesn’t live up to its hype.

Note to all other companies who make penis sex toys. You need to start stating the maximum insertable circumference for your toys. If you don’t state the circumference of the toy clearly before I buy or review it, I can’t just let you off gently.
