Welcome to my Bathmate Gains diary! This is a page of statistics which complements the detailed reviews that I have done of all Bathmate’s penis pump models. The first pump I tested was the Bathmate Hydromax 7 (review here). Then after another brand’s hydro pump I ran a two month experiment with the Bathmate Hydroxtreme 7 (review of HydroXtreme here). Finally I reviewed and tested the Bathmate Hydro (the most basic of Bathmate’s pumps).

The order I did these tests in does have an impact on the gains I achieved with each pump. The concept of diminishing returns comes into play with penis pumps. My Bathmate gains during the first year were more rapid than what I can achieve now for example. In any case, this Bathmate gains diary should give you some idea of what is possible with these pumps.

I’ll say right away that in my opinion and experience, all these Bathmate pumps work. The Hydromax and HydroXtreme have the most potential in terms of power and gains. However the Bathmate Hydro is also interesting for beginners or people who want to take their pumping at a more leisurely pace. The Hydro will still give you Bathmate gains and even enable experienced users like me to maintain gains.
Throughout this gains diary I run through several different pump timings and schedules. I also talk about some practices that I now consider unsafe. Pay attention to when I tell you that a technique I used is considered unsafe. I preferred to keep my diary honest and accurate rather than simply edit out things that aren’t good later.
One important thing to know is that throughout this gains diary I describe my pump sessions as lasting 5 – 25 minutes. My later trend was to pump for 10 minutes at a time. Please know that Bathmate considers this unsafe. You should follow their official guidelines to avoid injury. They recommend using the pump for no more than 15 minutes in a 24 hour period. Furthermore, they say you should break down your pumping sessions into 5 minute segments. 2 – 3 minutes of pumping and then 2 minutes of massage. Again, I prefer to mention that so that you can read my gains diary as I wrote it.

Bathmate Hydromax Gains Diary
The Hydromax was the first Bathmate I used. My documentation and testing was a little more detailed with this first test. Hydromax is also the pump that many users begin from so this test should be particularly interesting to you. I wasn’t 100% consistent with my Bathmate routine, so I took some days off. Generally, I used the pump 3 – 4 times per week.
My final 2 month gains with the Hydromax were:
Length: +0.65 inches (1.65 cm)
Girth: +0.1 inches (0.25 cm)

These entries used to be separate posts and I decided to combine them all here to make it simpler for you to follow my whole Bathmate gains journey. What you read is literally what I wrote in my gains diary every week.
Week 1 (Hydromax)
During week one I was really not loving the Hydromax pump. I considered it dangerous and stopped the test temporarily to do research into injuries and the saftey of the pump. I almost sent the pump back at this point but decided to carry on with the knowledge I had gained.
One warning, I mention several times in my diary that I pumped to 100% my usual erect size of even more than that. DO NOT DO THIS. I didn’t realise at the time but what I was doing was dangerous. You should only ever pump to half an inch BELOW your maximum size. Pumping more than that with your Bathmate can cause injuries. For argument’s sake, if I were normally 6 inches when erect I would only pump to 5.5 inches. That way I have a small margin for error. Remember, water can distort, magnify or shrink what you are seeing.

Session 1
3 x 5 minute repetitions at full pressure. I pumped to +1 inch / 2.5cm my usual erect size. It was a little painful and I finished the session with some red spots over my penis. Update, I do not recommend doing this, it is dangerous and will harm your gains. Just follow the Bathmate user guide.
Length: +0.3 inches / 0.76cm (compared to baseline size)
Girth: +0.4 inches / 1cm (compared to baseline size)
Session 2
3 x 5 minute reps at almost full pressure. It was still very uncomfortable.
Again got red spots on my penis and pain in my groin area. I will have to use the pump at less pressure. All subsequent sessions will be at most at my usual erect size. Update – again, do not pump to 100% your usual size. It is dangerous.

Week 2 (Hydromax)
For most of week two I was getting bored of using the Bathmate. I wasn’t seeing any gains for a few days, however at the end of the week, I was starting to see some girth increases.

During week 3 I saw mainly length increases, which I was quite happy about. However I was still frustrated with the amount of time I had to spend in the shower with the Bathmate Hydromax.

Week 4 (Hydromax)
During week four I was starting to see some impressive gains in length. I later learned that this was mainly due to increased erection quality.
It is said that the penis usually won’t have actual gains until over three months in. I was happy in any case. Remember that these values are based on my penis size before using the bathmate. They are not accumulative values.
Even though my maximum girth level wasn’t changing too much, Eve and I agreed that I was thicker overall. So while my maximum girth hadn’t changed, my penis had filled out and become more even.

Week 5 (Hydromax)
This week I started entering the pump erect instead of flaccid (not recommended, see below), because I felt like I was beginning to reach a plateau in my gains. I had to skip a few sessions because I was away from home.
Note: It is NOT recommended to enter the pump erect. Bathmate states in their safety information that they consider this unsafe. So just to make clear, you should not enter the pump erect. For me, it didn’t make much difference to gains and after learning why it is dangerous, I recommend you don’t do it.
Do not use the pump erect or for more than 15 mins in any 24hour period. The official guidelines also say to break your sessions down into 5 minute segments. 2 – 3 minutes of pumping and 2 minutes of massage.

Final gains with Bathmate Hydromax
My final gains were +0.65 inches (1.65cm) in length and +0.1 inches (0.25cm) in girth. While this isn’t a huge amount, I’m actually fairly happy. “All patients ‘have the perception of a larger penis’” and I’m definitely one of them! If I used the device for longer I’m sure I’d have even more success.

Bathmate HydroXtreme Gains Diary
The HydroXtreme was the third water pump that I used. Therefore while I consider the HydroXtreme to be the best penis pump available, my length gains were slower (I had already added a lot of length by now). My girth gains were larger than what I had with the Hydromax. I also enjoyed using the HydroXtreme more.
My final 2 month gains with the HydroXtreme were:
Length: + 0.4 inches
Girth: + 0.3 inches

As all the other tests on this page, I conducted this one over 2 months. In order to remain consistent I only measured at the end of each month for this test. My Hydromax test was thorough but it also took a huge amount of time because of the regular measuring process. I knew that with this test I would probably quit if I had to spend so much time measuring again. So measuring only at the end of each month suits me better. I recommend it.
I took several breaks during this test, each lasting from a few days to one week. Being more consistent would have given me better results. Yet I was pretty happy with my final gains regardless.

HydroXtreme gains after two months
Before I used the Bathmate HydroXtreme I took baseline measurements. These measurements are how much my size changed since I began using the Bathmate HydroXtreme (not since last month).
Length: + 0.4 inches
Girth: + 0.3 inches
Bathmate Hydro Gains
The Bathmate Hydro is the company’s least powerful pump. It still works just fine however because I was able to keep my gains from the Hydroxtreme. Usually my gains would have disappeared after stopping use of the HydroXtreme.
Because this was my fourth test of a Hydro pump, you can’t judge this two-month experiment like my first. If I had begun with the Bathmate Hydro, my gains would have been more impressive. I had already been using pumps for a long time by this test and therefore, my gains had already slowed down. The fact that it allowed me to keep my gains from the HydroXtreme is testament to how good this most basic pump actually is.
Month 1 (Hydro)
I was a little sad when I first began testing the Bathmate Hydro to be honest. I like my Hydroxtreme so much and to go back and use a weaker pump was hard to do. The reason I perservered is for you dear reader!
The reduction in pressure shocked me a little during the first month. I couldn’t actually get the pressure I was used to with the Hydroxtreme because the Hydro can’t reach such levels.
Note – days unless I say I didn’t pump, I used the Hydro in the shower for 10 minutes.

Hydro Gains after 2 months
As I expected, my size didn’t change much at all while using the Hydro. It’s not a problem in my opinion because by this point I had already used penis pumps for several years.
When my penis is already used to the high pressure of the Hydroxtreme, it is difficult for this pump to compete. It DOES still work though. Had I tried the Hydro first, I have no doubt that my gains with it would have been more.

What does it mean that you “didn’t pump more than an inch below your max erection”?
Hey Anthony, that means that if I am (for argument’s sake) 6 inches when normally erect, I would pump to a maximum size of 5.5 inches. The reason being that water can magnify or minimise what I am seeing and measuring. So I prefer to play it safe and pump slightly under my usual size. That way, I have a safer margin of error. Honestly, the results are the same when I play it safe as when I used to pump without that margin of error, so it really isn’t worth risking it. Hope that helps!

I was wondering, do you always stay 0.5 inch below your original erect size?
So say you are 6.5 inch when you start using bathmate, then you pump up to 6 inch. But if you increase say one inch to 7.5 inch, do you then still pump to 6 inch, or do you then pump to 7 inch?
And you mentioned that your later routine was 10 minutes and you still witnessed gains. Did you use other penis enlargement techniques during the time (eg jelqing), or were the gains just from the 10 minutes bathmate? And was the 10 minutes in one row or with breaks?
Hey Vince thanks for your comment. I always stay 0.5 inches below my current erect size. So yes if my size increased to 7.5 inches, I would pump instead to 7 inches. It’s important to also add though that you should stop whenever you feel too much tension or pain. The idea of staying 0.5 inches below my usual size is just to avoid me ignoring my pain threshold (everyone’s threshold is different).
10 minitues straight without breaks is what I personally do because I like to keep things simple. For me, stopping, starting, doing stretch breaks etc is a bit too tedious and time consuming. Just keep in mind that my method of staying in for 10 minutes straight isn’t what Bathmate considers safe or recommends. For me it’s perfect though.
Whenever I do these tests I use no other penis enlargement methods. That was one of the things I made sure of with all these tests because I thought it would be more clear and fair that way. The only test I did that was different was the test of the Penomet pump, because they had a stretch routine that they recommended I do with it (I don’t recommend their system as highly as Bathmate, just an fyi). With the Bathmate pumps I just did the pumping and nothing else.
So what are your lifetime gains across all the pumps you’ve used, for those of us who are interested in what we can expect beyond 2 months?

You can see a bit more detail on the page I have below but after one year of infrequent pump use I had increased from 6.3 inches to 7.2 inches in length and from 5.8 to 6.2 inches in girth. That’s with me taking occasional breaks from the pumping schedule. The maximum I’ve ever gotten to is 7.3 inches in length.

As of now (Mar 2021) I’m not currently using any penis pump or other extension devices. It has been about 6 months since I last used one (busy time of my life right now). My size now is more back to what it was before but it is still thicker in girth. The reason I know about the girth is because some condoms that used to fit me are still tighter than they used to be. As I’ve written before, for me personally the length isn’t permanent but some (not all) of my girth gains do stick around.
Penis pumps are more of a novelty to me. My girlfriend and I enjoy them while I do the tests and get bigger but I don’t ever intend to use one on a permanent basis without taking extended breaks.
I’ll probably do more testing in the future but for now I’m happy with the experimenting I did and am focusing more on other types of toys for this website!

Hey Charles, when I first started using the pumps, I did feel that I was slightly ‘inflated’ while flaccid – like I felt it more under my jeans if you know what I mean…. It could have been a psychological thing but I enjoyed it anyway. As you can see from this gains diary you’ve been reading, I kept a fairly detailed record. There were some indications that I’d gotten bigger while flaccid – it varied though.
Is it possible to use the hydro extreme dry also?
Its not always easy to find the time to add water. I wonder if that affects results?
Hey yes it is possible, I used it that way several times for the same reason as you (not spending as much time in the bathroom). Mine worked dry so long as I was closely shaven. I didn’t need to but you could damp the edges a bit to help the seal as well. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi, you mentioned that it is dangerous to pump above 100%. Is there a particular reason for this? Also, what about entering semi erect if you do not overpump that you feel pain? Thanks!

Hey thank you for stopping by and for the compliment! The reason I say that is because when you’re looking at yourself through water, the water is distorting your view of it. So what you think may be 100% might be 120% because of magnification etc. That’s why I say to stay about an inch below size. I did that, which keeps things safer and I still gained.

Thanks for your comment. To answer your question, I had to shave in order to seal the device against my skin. It wouldn’t seal before I shaved.
I’m curious – I’m 21 almost 22, and my penis can get very hard when erect (if I’m not taking my adhd medication, which makes it difficult to get erect), would it be a bad idea to try the hydroextreme for me, like damage my penis, or is it safe as long as I take caution?
All penis pumps come with risks. If you’re worried about the risk, don’t do it. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t bother. To see any difference you need to use it too much and I don’t recommend using them on the long run. I wouldn’t take it especially in your case, because you already describe erection problems when on medication… it’s just not worth the extra stress.
Balloon affect. Does the use of a pump give her a feeling of a balloon or does it feel just as firm and satisfying as before using the pump? Does it feel natural to your partner?
Yeah it always did feel hard as usual to my partner. It’s been a long time since I used it. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t bother. Too much hassle and too many risks.
Do you have to use a cock ring after using it to keep the temporary gains?
No, I wouldn’t recommend that.
