Review: Lovense Gush Penis Vibrator

Lovense Gush Review

Another bluetooth connected sex toy for little old me. This is the Lovense Gush, a penis vibrator that can be remote controlled from the other side of the globe and synced to music via an app. Does it feel good though? Let’s find out in my Lovense Gush review!

First Impressions of the Lovense Gush

The Gush is Lovense’s first glans vibrator for the penis. I have four other Lovense toys at the time of writing and am happy to see them begin to make this style of toy. I will be comparing the Lovense Gush to several other penis vibrators in this review, most notably the Pulse toys by Hot Octopuss, which are the most obvious competitors to this new Lovense toy.

The Gush is a dark shade of green which I love. This colour is WAY better-looking than black, even if it does still show up dust a bit. The design of the Gush is also quite interesting. It wraps all the way around the penis and I’m not sure that someone would think “sex toy” if it was within eyeshot at the corner of a room… always a bonus to have discrete looking sex toys.

The Lovense Gush has a moderately strong vibration motor inside it and fits around the head of the penis (the glans). The toy has one button to control the different patterns but the real magic comes from the Lovense Remote app. Using the app immediately gives a big choice of additional functionality, like long distance remote control, community patterns and local remote control. You can also set alarms, etc on it.

Lovense Gush size
The size of the Gush will be a good, secure enough fit for most.

In terms of size, the Lovense Gush is about the same size as the Pocket Pulse which I also own. Lovense has helpfully included a silicone band with the Gush so that you can keep it more tightly in place on your penis during public play. The Gush stays in place WAY better than the Pocket Pulse does for me while I walk around.

The Lovense Gush has 6 vibration modes and a battery life of 1 hour. It takes 2 hours to charge all the way. Like many of Lovense’s other toys, the Gush is waterproof. Inside the box you get a charging cable, the toy, the silicone tightening band/cock ring and a satin pouch to keep it all in.

Controlling the Gush with the Lovense Remote App

lovense gush

Like all Lovense toys, the Gush connects to a mobile phone app called Lovense Remote (available on iOS and Android). Using the Lovense Remote app, I can sync the Gush to music, connect it to remote partners, sync it with other toys like the Edge 2 (a prostate toy) and even set alarms for the toy.

Connecting the Gush to music is fun because it’s a hands-free kind of toy, especially when I sit down with it. Leaving it on syncing to music while I listen and use my computer is a relaxing way to use the toy. Like with the other Lovense toys I’ve tested, the music sync function is kind of approximate but it’s good enough for novelty!

I also enjoyed using the community patterns with the Lovense Gush. There is a part of the Lovense app where anyone who owns the devices can go and create their own patterns for other people to use. This was a good way to use the toy because it cycled through different community patterns, with no one pattern being the same. Doing this makes it seem like a random and endless variety of vibrating patterns running one after the other.

Video of me demonstrating how the Lovense Remote App works

I decided to do a quick demonstration of how well the Lovense Remote app works. Notice that the toy connects to the phone in a matter of seconds and all of the app’s functionality is instantly available. The only thing you’d need to configure a bit more is the partner connect part, because there you’d need to enter your details (email for example) and then share control of the device with a partner.

My phone is in French during this video but I’ve put subtitles throughout to tell you what I’m doing. The buttons are all in the same place in English too.

Public Play with the Lovense Gush: It works well!

Wearing the band around the Gush means that it stays in place better under clothes.

My girlfriend and I had fun with her remote controlling the toy for me while we were out in a park near our home. For a public vibrator, the intensity is just right. It’s subtle enough to turn me on or give me an erection at its higher intensities, yet it’s not so strong that it makes me climax in my trousers and make a mess. That last point is also a weakness of course but we’ll talk more about that later.

Eve had a good time remote controlling me while we were out and I had my wicked way with her when we got back home. As usual, she found the Lovense Remote app easy to use and she had no problem taking control of the Gush as I wore it. I couldn’t hear the toy over the moderate noise of the park we were in. For outdoor public penis play, the Gush is really a decent toy to have.

Initially I doubted that the Gush would stay in place while I walked around, because the Hot Oct Pulse toys don’t. However, with the silicone band holding the toy tight around my penis, it does stay in place reasonably well. I wear boxer shorts and my jeans are quite loose. When walking around with the Gush on, I didn’t have any cases where it literally dropped on the floor or anything. Sometimes when I went from hard to flaccid, my penis would end up too far down the toy but overall I’m impressed with the Gush’s ability to stay on my penis.

With the test my girlfriend and I did in the park, I sat down and walked around quite a bit with the Gush on. It stays in place well while I’m erect or semi-erect. When I was flaccid, I noticed that my penis slipped down significantly after I walked 250 metres or so. At a restaurant, home or other similar setting where one doesn’t have to walk much, I think the Gush is a good fit. For me I’d be able to put it on in a bathroom and make my way back to my girlfriend without it slipping out of place.

Sometimes my skin can get caught in the separation line but it’s not a huge problem.

One thing that sometimes happens with the Gush is skin pinching as I transition from hard to flaccid and back again. It’s because as my penis changes, the skin moves a lot inside the toy and so it can get caught between the separation line of the toy or even between the silicone band and the edge of the toy. It isn’t so bad that I have to take the toy off immediately or anything, it’s just a slight issue of comfort when it occasionally happens. Room for improvement!

The Gush isn’t quite powerful enough for me

As I mentioned in the last section, the Lovense Gush is very good for public play. Where it falls down a little for me is in its intensity during solo play.

Lovense’s toys are usually very powerful and to be honest I expected a bit more intensity out of the vibration motor than there is. I did get orgasms from the Gush but they took quite a long time to achieve. During one of my first tests, I sat down with the toy on, doing a hands-free test (letting the vibration motor run without me adding more stimulation). In that test, I didn’t get an orgasm. To get an orgasm with the Gush on, I either have to be wearing a prostate vibrator with it or I have to use the toy as a stroker while it runs.

I personally prefer Lovense’s Max 2 for solo play more than the Gush. One could never use the Max 2 for discrete public play, however. While I applaud the Gush’s overall low noise level, I do wish the vibration motor was more intense for solo play. Yet do remember dear reader that I’ve become quite accustomed to strong vibration motors in toys like the Doxy Die Cast and Pulse Solo Interactive.

Video and noise level of the Lovense Gush

This is a different video from the one you may have seen further up the page. In this video you’ll hear how the vibrator sounds against skin (my hand) and as usual, I did a quick unboxing of the toy too.

Its vibration motor produces a very reasonable level of noise for a sex toy of this style. I’d personally be comfortable using it even if there were people in the next room because I doubt they’d hear it. It isn’t as loud as the Pocket Pulse and nowhere near the noise level of the full size Pulse toys (which are loud).

Cleaning the Gush

The Gush is easy to clean, made of silicone and is waterproof, so just pop it under water, use some mild soap or a sex toy cleaner on it and you can dry it with a towel. Easy peasy. Silicone attracts dust and so you’ll usually want to keep the Gush inside its storage pouch (included) to minimise that.

In conclusion of my review of the Lovense Gush

lovense gush side

The Lovense Gush is a decent hands-free bluetooth penis vibrator. It’s good for discrete public play and as usual from Lovense, the app stuff all works great. I had some good fun with the Gush and it gave me some spicy foreplay sessions. Pairing it with the Edge 2 (another Lovense toy) was my best experience with it personally, because having it run at the same time as their prostate vibrator gives me a satisfying orgasm.

When I use the Gush on its own, I often find myself wanting more power from the vibration motor. It lacks intensity for me and I wish it would bring me to climax without me using a prostate toy or squeezing/stroking while it runs. As a hands-free orgasm machine, the Gush didn’t quite do it for me. It’s best suited to public play or teasing games, a little like the We-Vibe Bond.

The design of the Gush itself looks good and I prefer the shape of this toy compared to the Pulse toys by Hot Octopuss. The Gush wraps the penis more completely and the silicone band helps it stay in place while I’m walking around, making public play more doable with this toy.

If there is a next version of the Gush, I’d just like more power please!

IMHO this toy is worthless. While the design is good, the vibrations are totally lacking in intensity.

The Gush is good for public play actually but I agree the vibrations are mild and I wouldn’t recommend it as someone’s main sex toy. For me it’s more a novelty one for public play and teasing.
